My 8-6

8 am.: Monday Morning. I walk into the doors of Silo Ink with a positive attitude and a radiant smile. How can I be unhappy when I am living my dream job with a company that aligns with my morals and aspirations in life?

October 4th, 2010: The day that I joined Silo Ink forever changed my life. My journey with this refillable ink cartridge company started with a sincere invitation from a friend and the Vice President of the company: Mr. Tik Yip.

Coming from a corporate culture with PepsiCo for four years, walking into this new start up office was quite the change. With heavy hesitation and inability to decide if I wanted to begin a career with Tik as business partner, I had to ask him the golden question: “Why should I choose to work here at Silo Ink?” Unlike many other business executives that I have dealt with trying to sell me their company, Tik took quite a different approach. He said: “Let me tell you how Silo Ink began” ….

What started with a research project had turned into the progressive company that Silo Ink is today. From the research project, He had realized how ink was one of the most expensive liquids in the world and had also discovered that ink jet industry served on a “razor blade” business model. Concerned with Mother Nature, he also saw the significant amount of plastic waste produced from ink cartridges. As a consumer himself, he was fused with energy and determination to create a product that save other consumer (like himself) money, save the Earth without jeopardizing quality print results. After more research and development, Silo Ink began.

After this story, I was sold.

With blessed and humbled success from 4 years of Sales Management at PepsiCo: Frito Lay, I knew my strength was in sales & marketing. Without hesitation I confirmed my decision to join the company that very day and here is why:

I saw that this company started from a genuine place. Tik started Silo Ink from the frustration of paying for ridiculously priced cartridges himself and seeing his passion and determination to create change in the world was inspiring. His energy and excitement for his company was contagious to say the least.

I also knew Silo Ink would be an easy sell to any target audience. Much like Michael Jackson and Celine Dion, there is not much need for marketing or ‘selling’ to their artistry: their amazing talent speaks for itself.

Four months after and three successful tradeshows later, I can confidently say this: Silo Ink is a star performer in its class of contenders. Simply Google search our company and let your results be the judgment on my previous statement.

Along with our amazing Silo Ink cartridges, I am also blessed to have talented and outstanding people as business partners. Every thought and idea brought to the table at work is treated with respect and appreciation. We stand by each other to celebrate each blessed win and pick each other up when results are undesirable. That, in itself, makes my time spent at Silo Ink even more priceless.

6pm: Monday Evening. I walk out of the front door at Silo Ink with a great smile. Feeling accomplished and productive with excitement to do this all over again at 8am tomorrow morning….. Yes, excitement to come to work again.
